Following the internship, she completed two years of post-doctoral fellowship training in neuropsychology. One year was completed at Mt. Sinai Medical Center, Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) in Miami Beach, FL, as the ADRC Scholar. The other year of training was finished at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine; Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Center on Aging, currently known as the Center of Cognitive Neuroscience and Aging (CNSA) in Miami, FL, where she has been appointed distinguished faculty member since April 2019. During her doctoral and postdoctoral experiences, she developed her primary interests in the areas of adult and geriatric neuropsychology and health psychology. Her subsequent professional experiences have allowed her to continue cultivating and refining skills for the appropriate diagnosis, management, and development of individualized treatment plans and recommendations for patients with pathologies such as dementia, strokes, multiple sclerosis, brain injuries, Parkinson’s disease, among others. Dr. Salcedo-Samper’s clinical expertise includes the administration, scoring, and interpretation of a variety of neuropsychological tests, which she can conduct in both English and Spanish. Also, she possesses extensive knowledge of restorative and compensatory cognitive rehabilitation intervention, to assist her patients with the reestablishing lost functions, and to facilitate the use of strategies for enduring long-term deficits. She also provides her patients and their families, with psychotherapy and psycho-educational services, to improve adjustment to their environment, and improve coping strategies and skills relevant to their medical status. Dr. Salcedo- Samper utilizes cognitive-behavioral and behavior modification approaches, in which she integrates structure, repetition, simple communication, and environmental adaptations to facilitate their daily functioning.
