Dr. Farooq completed his neurology residency and stroke/vascular neurology fellowship at the Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI. He is the medical director of vascular neurology and neurohospitalist service at a renowned Neuroscience Center in Grand Rapids. Dr. Farooq is also serving as the Chief Clinical Officer of American TelePhysicians and Director NeuroX. He is passionate about improving patient care using telemedicine especially teleneurology and has been providing teleneurology services to his patients with various neurological problems including those in nursing and long-term facilities. Dr. Farooq is actively involved in clinical research and has published more than 50 research articles in the nationally and internationally peer-reviewed journals. As the medical director of the stroke program, Dr. Farooq works closely with the emergency department physicians, making sure patients arriving with stroke symptoms are quickly diagnosed and treated. After stroke patients are discharged, he works in close collaboration with patients, their families, rehab facilities and other long-term facilities making sure how we can prevent secondary (or recurrent) strokes. His current work also involves primary and secondary stroke prevention in young and elderly.
